1998年，God Lives Underwater 的主唱 David Reilly 联合乐队经纪人 Gary Richards 策划了这次向 Depeche Mode 的致敬活动。当时的主流摇滚大牌 The Smashing Pumpkins, The Cure, Deftones, Rammstein 齐齐参与，Marilyn Manson 也主动请缨，只是最终因为工作安排没能按时交作业。几年以后，他们的精选集中终于收录了一首翻唱自“赶时髦”的 "Personal Jesus", 也算满足了迟来的致敬瘾。
芝加哥另类组合 Veruca Salt 演绎的 "Somebody" 也一样精彩，但同年还有一首更让人印象深刻的翻唱版本，来自林暐哲重新填词、杨乃文演唱的同名曲，足见 Depeche Mode 的影响力辐射之广。
2005年，David Reilly 意外离世。虽然他的乐队生涯也只能算中规中矩，但作为“赶时髦”的忠实追随者，1998年的这次企划，还是留下了一些让人难忘的声响。
